Synaxar Hall

The Synaxar Hall is the debut exhibition space of the museum. It is a vaulted room, generous in size and balanced in volume, with equal-length sides and a height of about 4 m at the apex of the central vault. The ceiling is supported by columns, and on the western side, semicircular niches are arranged. Access to the hall is through two doors from the reception area, which also houses the Commercial Galleries.

Synaxar is a multifunctional space because it can host temporary exhibitions and other cultural events, such as book launches, concerts, creative workshops, movie nights, etc.

The name of the hall reflects its polyvalent function, which includes gatherings (synaxes) of the public with the cultural, artistic, and academic environment. The exhibition in this space is primarily displayed in showcases. The hall is also equipped with a large projection screen that lowers from the ceiling and a modern sound system.

The name of the hall comes from the base exhibition allocated to this space during the museum's opening: the Orthodox synaxar (Greek: Συνάξαριον), more specifically the iconography of the Orthodox calendar, featuring all the saints and feasts of the ecclesiastical year.
